 Title: Are ye able to drink 

Text: Matthew 20:22

Scripture Reading:

But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They said unto Him, "We are able."

Most of us desire a crown without a cross; a throne without the alter of sacrifice; the glory without the suffering that leads to it. Let's here stop, and think of all the suffering Jesus Christ endured to be our substitute. What was in the cup that made the Lord Jesus shrink back in dread? The pollution of sin was in that cup he had to drink for us. Blasphemy against God; rape, adultery and sexual perversion; the bitterness of child abuse and wife beating; genocide; the murder of innocent children by abortion; Satanic worship; pride, lust envy, self-righteousness, and every other vile sin you can name. And Jesus had to drink all of it! He also took the full force of the Father's fiery wrath against sin. Jesus's agony should bring tears to our eyes and sorrow to our hearts. It must lead us to repentance and worship. Are we able to drink of the same? Have a nice day!!!

Give me this day my daily bread, and allow me to drink from Your cup of faith. You are the only and one true God, and I rejoice in knowing You.
